Everyone Gets To Share - Video

Familiar Stranger Week 7: Sharing

Video Discussion Questions:

  • How did you hear the good news of Jesus? Who shared Jesus with you?
  • What are some feelings or possible barriers for you - when you think about sharing Jesus with others?
  • What are some experiences with God (your story with Jesus) that you've had that may be an encouragement to others?
  • What was something that was shared in the book or on the video that caught your attention or gave you hope?

Discovery Bible Study: Acts 8:26-39

Read from Acts 8 (the story of Philip & the Ethiopia eunuch) and answer the Discovery Bible Study Questions:

  • What are things you notice about the witness encounter between Philip and the Ethiopian?
  • What do we learn about the Spirit/Jesus/God from this passage?
  • What do we learn about people from this passage?
  • What do you sense God saying to you from this passage?
  • What do you sense God asking you to do in response?

**Note about the Ethiopian Eunuch. A eunuch was a castrated man, often made so to serve safely around royal women or in government positions where loyalty and trust were critical. In the ancient world, eunuchs were seen as “safe” servants who could hold great power but also carried shame and social exclusion.

According to Deuteronomy 23:1, eunuchs were unable to participate in Israel’s temple worship: “No one who has been emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the Lord.” So, while the Ethiopian man worshipped the God of Israel, as a Gentile, he would not have been allowed full access to the temple. He is the first recorded gentile (non-Jew) to become a follower of Jesus after Pentecost.

Final Discussion:

Where do you need the Holy Spirit's help in sharing Jesus with your words and life?

Next Step Practices:

Mild: This week - choose to pray daily and ask the Holy Spirit to increase your passion and connection with people who may need Jesus.

Medium: Ask the Spirit to highlight three people this week who may not yet know Jesus and pray for them each day.

Hot: Ask the Spirit to give you an opportunity to share some of your story with Jesus this week with someone and do it.

This Week I Will...
